Almaty Road Trip Program

DAY 1 Almaty Road Trip

  • Arrival in Almaty by end of the day
  • Pick up the group from the airport
  • Check-in at hotel

DAY 2

  • Embark on a 4-hour morning road trip to Basshi village, where we’ll check into a guest house and enjoy lunch
  • Explore the ancient ocean floor of the Chalk Mountains of Aktau
  • Visit the volcanic mountains of Katutau
  • Stop at a 700-year-old willow tree
  • Return to the guest house for dinner and overnight stay

DAY 3 Almaty Road Trip

  • Early breakfast, followed by a trip to the Singing Dune for a one-hour off-road journey
  • Climb to the top, enjoy the view of Ili River and mountains, and learn how to make the sand sing
  • Begin descent into Bestamak canyon, which takes about 40 minutes, lunch near the Charyn River
  • Travel to Saty village in the mountains for approximately 1.5 hours
  • Spend the night in a guest house and experience local life and culture. Enjoy a traditional Kazakh dinner

DAY 4

  • Breakfast in the guest house and pack backpacks
  • Leave for Lower Kolsai Lake and hike to Middle Kolsai Lake where we’ll have lunch
  • Our guide will show best photo spots, we’ll take some drone shots and enjoy a tea/coffee break with scenic views
  • Visit Kaindy Lake, one hour off-road
  • Horse riding around the lake, visit best viewpoints
  • Hit the road to Charyn Canyon “Castle Valley”
  • Camp inside the canyon

DAY 5 Almaty Road Trip

  • Breakfast in the canyon
  • Go down deep into the Charyn Canyon and reach the Charyn River while our guide share information about its origin
  • Hit the road to return back to Almaty city
  • Stop at the Green Bazaar to get and taste some local products such as honey, Kazakh cheese, horse or camel milk
  • Drop off at the hotel in the city
  • Dinner in a restaurant of your choice, so many great ones in the center

DAY 6

  • Enjoy some free time exploring the city – option to explore together or alone based on your personal preferences
  • Receive recommendations for the best spots to visit, customized to your interests and flight schedule
  • Flexible itinerary to ensure that you make the most of your time in the city
  • Drop off at the airport at the end of the day
