1. Taste the most famous Kunafa

Begin your Amman adventure with a culinary journey through its narrow streets.
Jordanian cuisine is famous for its rich flavors and traditional dishes. However, locals will also highly recommend trying a slice (or two) of Kunafa at Habibah Sweets. This delicious dessert attracts long queues on the streets. Once you take a bite, you’ll understand why it’s a beloved local favorite.

2 - Taste Traditional Jordanian Dishes Things to Do in Amman

No trip to Amman is complete without savoring traditional Jordanian dishes like Maqluba and Mansaf. These iconic dishes offer a delicious glimpse into Levantine’s rich culinary heritage.

Maqluba, translated to “upside-down” in Arabic, is a delicious dish prepared by layering rice, meat or chicken, and vegetables in a pot. When served, the dish is flipped upside down onto a serving platter, creating an exciting moment as diners anticipate the reveal of the layered ingredients. It’s a true dining experience!

Mansaf is considered the national dish, it’s made of lamb cooked in a sauce of fermented dried yogurt called jameed and served with rice or bulgur.

These dishes are often served in large platters, as they are meant to be shared, symbolizing the generous hospitality of Jordanian culture.

3 - Enjoy Late-Night Falafels

For a taste of Amman’s bustling nightlife, head to the legendary Hashem for some delicious falafels. Whether it’s midnight or 3 AM, you can always count on Hashem for a snack. It is open 24/7, always busy, serving good food at an affordable price.

4 - Relax in a fancy cafe

Take a break from your visit and chill at one of Rainbow Street’s trendy spots. Maisa Space is one of our favorites: you’ll love the cozy vibes and their outdoor seating area.

The food is freshly made, using natural seasonal ingredients with the farm-to-table concept.

5. Support a Social Cause

Make a difference during your visit to Amman by dining at Ezwitti, a social restaurant that provides meals to those in need. You can contribute by purchasing meals that will be distributed for free.

Additionally, don’t miss out on their takeaway options; the food is insanely delicious! The volunteers and staff are passionate, and you can feel it in every bite.

Do some shopping in the local markets to pick up some souvenirs, sweets, and, most importantly, Jordanian Medjool dates. Famous for their sweetness, these dates are the perfect snack or gift to bring back home.
